The first true born son of the King of Dranaeyos, Aemon was raised as the natural heir of the isolated nation. As his father spent much of his time fathering bastards by entertaining beautiful women and claiming first rights with local brides, however, Aemon and his two true born siblings were raised primarily by their mother and Lord Callor, a royal advisor and rare Andal to be trusted in the Targaryen family. It was Lord Callor’s influence which Aemon took to most steadfastly, unlike his sister and betrothed, Baella, who mirrored their mother. The sibling’s temperaments drifted even further apart as they grew older, with Aemon growing closer to his bastard sister and their younger brother. The advisor was a logical and measured man without ambition of his own rise, one that did his best to curb Aemon’s worst instincts and steady the flame within him. His influence aided in molding the young heir in to a Targaryen that was more prone to restraint than most others who shared the often violent blood of Valyria, though that more volatile nature was never completely tamed, with an ego and temper that could sometimes flair despite him. The occasional slips remained rare but grew more numerous as he grew older, with the most vividly disorientating dreams of people and lands he had yet to lay eyes on plaguing him, and flames he had little control over forming in the least fortunate times, spurred on my his blood and, seemingly, instability. Such occurrences led Aemon east, to an unfamiliar land his family had abandoned in purported perpetuity centuries before, accompanied only by his recluse dragon Baelyon, a few loyal men, and general familial disapproval of a journey to such a place.

The first child born of the Princess of Dorne and her husband, Nymaerys was the natural heir of her house and lands. She was followed by two siblings, first a brother, and then a sister, the three all close in age. Her early days were full of innocence, spent playing with them and her cousins in the Water Gardens, as well as training and bonding with her beloved dragon Meraxes. That innocence largely ended when Nymaerys was nine, her young sister and brother’s dragon involved in an accident that cost the dragon it’s life, her sister the use of her legs, and her mother her sanity. Within months of the accident, as soon as her sister was well enough to travel, Nymaerys’ mother took the young girl and flew to Dragonstone, leaving Nymaerys and her brother in the care of their uncle in Dorne. The new regent of Dorne happily took the children in, easily becoming the father figure they had never had. Under her uncle’s supervision, Nymaerys soon began to train with her cousin, practicing tirelessly to become better for years, her persistence and countless hours of work for years molding her in to a highly skilled fighter. Though by no means sadistic by nature, Nymaerys‘ mind was one of a warrior, the fire of her blood running deep in her veins. It allowed her to make hard decisions without much delay, to be able and willing to resort to violence without great delay. Her loyalty was to her people, to her family, and to herself, and when under threat, her instincts were that of both fire and steel.
